I have been experimenting with asparagus and strawberries together
and have come to love the combination.
This is my favorite salad so far and I like several
different flavored mayonnaise dressings.
in many parts of the culinary world they call them "Aioli".
These are so simple to put together, so I like to recommend them.
Here I added Banana to the salad and zest of orange.
For the dressing I just added strawberries and poppyseeda to the lemon garlic mayo
that I made in the recipe above.
Marinated and fried in hot oil,
to give the skin a great texture.
This is an interesting Idea to Blister anything on purpose ….much less something we want to eat.
However if I said, charred, or caramelized, or crusted, these are similar.
The coolness of a blistered asparagus is that it makes a nice caramelization
on the skin and crisp texture as opposed to one that may be a bit on the slimy side.
Don't let miso scare you. miso is a seasoning agent in my mind akin to
the Popular Gerrman Maggi seasoning. I like to associate them together in my mind
They have both worked at making seasoning to bring out the flaors in all kinds of dishes.
Kikunae Ikeda
The professor that pioneered making Umami products
Julius Maggi who also created an Umami seasoning although he never called it that name.
This a great mild flavored
Miso paste made from traditional
soybeans and rice
This brand was recommended by Cook's Illustrated, who taste tested white miso and chose this as their favorite. Here's what they had to say about it: "This toffee-colored miso combines intense “umami” with “tropical,” “sweet,” and “subtly tart” flavors.

Biography of my grandma
Emma Block From Germany with Love tells the story of my grandma, Emma Block, growing up in a little town in Baden/ Würtemberg, Germany near Heidelberg named Steinsfurt. Then at the age of 15 immigrating to the United States, taking a train with one of her sisters and brothers to Hamburg and sailing the Atlantic with other hope filled Germans wanting to make a life in the "New World". It was not easy but with good values learned in her German upbringing made a full life, had a wonderful family with lots of fun and celebration including the great German meals.
Here I added some baby dumplings so I could spoon some crushed strawberries on them.
It gives the aspagagus soup a nice contrasting flavor.
Asparagus Soup with Miso
I made a simple soup of vegetables and Miso. Miso
Miso paste makes a nice flavored broth. It is not strange tasting, but just a wonderful flavor booster.
Miso is another flavor booster, as you would put Maggi in which is a German flavor booster
