The Zillertal Tramplan (also Mayrhofer dance or Zillertaler wedding march) is derived from the Tyrolean folk music , originally only orally transmitted violin polka with a fast-played Geradtaktigen melody. The piece was saved from oblivion by the Viennese folklorist and musicologist Karl Horak . However, the piece became known internationally only in the early 1990s through the interpretation of the Zillertaler Schürzenjäger , which became a great success under the title "Zillertal Wedding March " . Since then, the piece has been part of the repertoire of numerous folk music and hit bands and is played at almost all beer tent festivals.
