This is an interesting article in 1914, the food columnist had never even heard of Chinese Fried RIce. This is what I found mostly, when searching for Fried Rice recipes.

This article however in 1907 shows an interesting Chinese Fried Rice recipe. It looks as if they thought it might be easier to dice up a hard boiled egg instead of scrambling them.
