The History of German Chocolate Cake

June 11 is National German Chocolate Cake Day and that is also my birthday. Not sure if this is a coincidence or not , but it has been my birthday cake more often than not on my 66 years of birthdays .

The history of German Chocolate cake is largely to me about how it went viral across the U.S.

How it got it's name German Chocolate when it is not German is also of great interest.

And It has to be said that the filling-frosting is what I think is so very special about this cake, and my hat's off to the house wife who invented it.
